AI can revolutionize genealogical research with blazing-fast data extraction, analysis of records, translation capability, and so much more. Using AI responsibly also requires ethical considerations—such as transparency and privacy issues—best practices, etc. The following are among the AI topics covered at this year’s conference.

Artificial Intelligence and Genealogy: The First Year and Onward!
Steve Little—the founder and owner of AI Genealogy Insights and a trailblazer in documenting and advancing the field of AI-assisted genealogy—will discuss practical AI tools and methods for individual researchers and AI’s broader impact in the field.

Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools for Land Records Analysis
David M. McCorkle—a specialist in land records, platting, mapping tools, digitization, and software—will explain how AI tools can help you quickly extract and organize information from multiple land records simultaneously, including metes and bounds, public land descriptions, geographic features, and neighbors.

Hand-written Text Recognition: Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence to Transcribe and Search Documents
Yvette Hoitink, CG, QG—a professional genealogist, writer, and lecturer from the Netherlands—will discuss how hand-written text recognition software can turn manuscripts into searchable transcriptions. You will learn how to use these tools and what they can (and cannot) do for you.

AI Innovations at FamilySearch
Robert Raymond—deputy to the chief genealogical officer at FamilySearch—will review AI-based image and record innovations as well as every word indexes at FamilySearch and discuss how AI is radically transforming the rapid publication of online records.

These are just some of the many terrific lectures in the conference program. Not only will you enjoy two days of online education and live Q&A (17- 18 May 2024), but you also will be able to catch up on the lectures you missed at your leisure. Registrants can watch the recordings via the Whova app through 15 August 2024.
