Special Interest & Focus Groups
Our BGS Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are communities within our broader organization that serve to support our members that have a mutual interest in a specific genealogical area. They typically meet monthly depending on the interests of the members and the group’s facilitator. These SGIs aim to advance knowledge in a specific area of genealogy in the group by:
Volunteer Opportunities! We would love to form several more SIGs, but we need a leader or facilitator for each group.

2nd Tuesday Genealogy Group
Purpose: This SIG or Focus Group is for those interested in using various genealogical tools or are seeking additional information on a particular genealogy topic. Topics will be decided upon by the members of the group in coordination with the leader. The leader will use a variety of resources from subject matter experts on YouTube to individuals sharing their experience and knowledge on the selected topic. Occasionally an outside subject matter expert may be called upon for their expertise.

Meets: Monthly, February – November; second Tuesday at 7:00 PM (Mountain Time)

Family Search – Special Interest Group
You are invited to join the LGS members and non-members in a group study and discuss the FamilySearch website.
The purpose of this Special Interest Group is to share hints, how-to’s, and discuss features of the Family Search website both as a research resource and the FamilySearch tree as a repository of your genealogy and as a source of info. FamilySearch.org is the world’s largest FREE genealogy website. Unlike the Workshops and Help Sessions sponsored by LGS the purpose of this SIG is not to specifically aid in doing individual genealogy research but to help participants gain a better understanding of this website for doing your personal research. Also, it is not a presentation by an instructor but is intended as a forum for the sharing of knowledge and ideas among the participants as peers.
